THE STORY
Before the Signal follows Elias Thorne, a meticulous, invisible accounting clerk in 1939 Washington, D.C., who abandons a life of correct answers no one notices for a job with the Federal Music Project — only to discover the FMP is a front for Project Orpheus, a covert government effort to intercept messages allegedly transmitted backward through recorded music.
